Culturally Inclusive NGO

description

Cultural events and cultural centers in Armenia today are inaccessible to the vulnerable people (orphanage students, children attending day care centers, people in need of special care, war-affected families, soldiers with disabilities, refugees).
Our newly established organization has as a strategy the collaboration with almost all cultural institutions in the Republic of Armenia. It is to coordinate the availability of programs implemented in those institutions for people (especially youth) in vulnerable groups.

Research is one of our priorities, which will help us take efforts and develop programs for building accessibility facilities in cultural institutions, provide educational and information courses for staff of cultural institutions to work properly with vulnerable young people.
We do appreciate quality and prioritization in everything we do, thus research, collaboration and dedication to what we want to achieve will always be our ”partners in crime’.

The foundation of the Culturally Inclusive NGO is in fact a small part of a dream come true. The members of the organization have been working in the cultural field for many years and have experienced the huge gap that cultural institutions in Armenia possess in the sphere of providing inclusive service to vulnerable groups, be it technologically or in the sense of human resources development.. Our initiative is to make cultural life accessible to vulnerable people (children in orphanages, day care centers, people in need of special care, war-affected families, soldiers with disabilities, refugees…) , thus contributing to the socio-psychological support of these individuals.
Things have aggravated since the end of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We have so many young people that have become disabled because of the war.
Thus, now is a crucial time for starting off our journey to more accessible cultural life for young people in Armenia.

The problem we are trying to solve:

"The implementation of the organization goals is very important for us, since we will be able to invest our skills and efforts to build a more inclusive society and give back to those young people who have risked their lives protecting our country."

"The problem has been consistent in our community for many years, yet the number of young people having disabilities has recently increased drastically and has made it more tangible in the eyes of society."

"The components of our projects’ map we intend to implement are diverse and comprehensive yet this one initiative is going to be the kick starter for bringing our organization’s plans to life. "

The solution we are proposing:

"The components of our projects’ map we intend to implement are diverse and comprehensive yet this one initiative is going to be the kick starter for bringing our organization’s plans to life. "

"In fact, this will become the first in its kind initiative in Armenia that will try to voice the existing problems and to find ways for getting sustainable solutions."

"Thanks to this very first initiative we will make a database with the needs assessment for cultural institutions in all the provinces of Armenia in terms of accessibility for people with disabilities. Moreover, we will make collaboration ties in these institutions and most young people working there will have the opportunity to participate in the online training twice a month for 4 months to get some basic knowledge, information and tools for preparing a favorable terrain for accessible cultural life for people with disabilities to become real. We intend to start the project either in February or March 2022, depending on when we get the funding transfer."

What success looks like for us:

Success is measurable if we set a concrete goal and know the steps to it. Thus, if our input brings about the wanted output, we can say that success has come.

Where we are are based:

Kotayq region, Village Arinj; Armenia

Funding we are applying for:

$10,000 - $12,000 per year

How this funding will help us achieve our goals:

"Since thanks to this funding we will make our first steps in the field, it will make a way for finding localized solutions for concrete cultural institutions together with young people from the relevant region. Therefore, the projects to come can include these young people not only as beneficiaries but also as employees and changemakers."

How this funding will strengthen our group:

"As you may know, it is not easy for a newly-established non-governmental organization to get funding for its very first project implementation, thus, the funding and the trust in us will strengthen our position as an organization for future funding and collaboration opportunities."

How we gain by being a Spark Fund partner:

"Besides the funding in itself, being a Spark Fund grantee will open up new partnership and collaboration opportunities, as well as help us keep learning globally and locally. It will help us grow as an organization."

How we would like to spend a grant through the Spark Fund:

"If we are qualified and receive the Spark Fund, we will spend the amount of money requested on the preparation of the training, conduct the online training twice a month for 4 months, give honoraria to trainers, pay for communication costs, zoom platform fee and project staff salaries. Also, we will possibly engage some consultation services for a more targeted work ahead."

Our Annual Income:

0

Our Organization Structure:

"In our organization, decisions are made as a result of brainstorming, information research, joint discussions and cooperation, as the ideas and goals of the founding members coincide."

"The employees of our organization, who are also founding members, are young people who have united around one idea, the main goal of all of us is the successful implementation of the program, providing access to cultural life for the people (especially youth) in the vulnerable groups in our country, so we all work collaboratively."

"All the founding members of our organization are young people. Young people are more innovative, more active, more collaborative, they come up with ideas, they find flexible ways to implement them. Youth Leadership helps our organization to become better acquainted with the problems of the beneficiary youth, to work with them to find creative solutions."
