NGO «Youth agglomeration of Kyiv»
Our great dream is that Ukrainian youth will not be afraid to make changes, will be able to defend the system of personal life values, will become an increasingly important part of civil society and a part of state-building processes both at the local and national levels.
I hope that our efforts we will be able to:
- build the interaction of the active stratum of young generation from different regions of Ukraine, regardless it is a large city, a remote or rural area;
- uniting youth Ukrainian citizens on the path of pro-democratic and pro-European changes.
The problem we are trying to solve:
"The formation of civic demand and civic identity of Ukrainian youth should become an integral part of state-building processes and the development of civil society. it is the adult generation that makes all the key decisions in society and perceives the new reality as a destructive element, the youth stays away from socio-economic life. The situation is clearly manifested in the regional context, where the process of self-government and decision-making is based on the established principle - ""the power of adults with experience.""
Without the appropriate civic competences on the decision-making process, self-advocacy tools and fear of the consequences of the decision / decision, young people gradually adapt to the demands of the adult generation and tolerate established social values. That is why Ukrainian youth critically need to be sure now that they can influence changes in society by following the law, thinking critically and independently."
"According to Transparency International's Global Corruption Barometer (GCB) in 2020, almost 78% of Ukrainians have committed dishonest acts over the past year. At the same time, young people under 25 showed the highest willingness to change the situation (68%). Young people are less interested in maintaining tolerance for corruption, so they can play a key role in such a fight. This leads to the fact that only up to 4% of young Ukrainians are members of public organizations, 62% of Ukrainian youth have not participated in any civil society organization in the past 12 months, according to the study ""Youth of Ukraine"", commissioned by the Ministry of Youth and Sports."
The solution we are proposing:
«Online Simulator «House of Integrity» the educational online game for the mandatory course "Civic Education" and related disciplines (Law, Philosophy, Sociology, etc). The game uses a personalized approach to each participant and is based on practical cases - real situations that young people encounter every day. The final result visualizes to the player the consequences of the decisions made and how valuable they are, which is reflected in the form of a house. Through the use of the game component, the House of Integrity project seeks to help young people from all over Ukraine aged 14-25 to acquire relevant competencies and skills that allow a more meaningful approach to decision-making in personal life and become a full component of democratic change at the local and national levels.
IF we give Ukrainian youth the opportunity to analyze the decision-making process on their own, THEN having the appropriate competencies / skills, Ukrainian youth will better understand how to advocate for their own values, WHICH will enable the integration of youth into civil society based on virtuous values and thus strengthen public position young generation of Ukrainians in society, for democratic change at the personal, local and national levels.
"We are in the initial phase of project implementation. The team working on the implementation of the initiative is undergoing mentoring training from USAID and preparing technical documentation, which will be the basis for the development of a beta version of the game. In addition, we actively participate in hackathons to attract a team of quality developers front and back."
What success looks like for us:
"For us, the main impact will be that the Youth has the key skills necessary for successful civic leadership, critical thinking, teamwork, problem solving. Manifestation of influence can be in various forms:
1) young people are increasingly involved in the decision-making process at various levels and work to solve problems in the communities where they live;
2) the number of young people involved in coalitions and youth public initiatives at the national, regional and local levels has increased;"
Where we are are based:
Funding we are applying for:
$14,000 - $15,000 per year
How this funding will help us achieve our goals:
"Financial support will help to approach the game development process more systematically - development of the Terms of Reference (ToR), presentation of test cases, design of a monitoring and reporting system including development of program indicators to help informthe technical team of project status and progress toward achievement of key results as agreed in the annual work plans. And as a result, to create not only a high-quality, but equally important interesting interactive tool, the House of Virtue game, which allows you to simulate the decision-making process and place the Games in free access for everyone."
How this funding will strengthen our group:
"Involving additional specialists will help expand and strengthen organizational capacity:
- Qualitative technical task will help to minimize risks during the development of the Game;
- Practical cases in the Game, which form the relevant virtuous civic competencies;
- Modern brand identity will help to stand out among other projects;
- Іntegration of our NGO into other civil society networks in Ukraine."
How we gain by being a Spark Fund partner:
"For us as youth representatives, it would be important not only to receive financial support, but also to receive expert support, in particular:
- to determine which forms of interaction are best suited for young students;
- to monitor the global market for digital educational electronic services on the topic of civic education and to study best practices."
How we would like to spend a grant through the Spark Fund:
"Funds available from the Spark Fund will be used for the activities necessary for the successful implementation of the House of Integrity Online Simulator project:
- involvement of narrow-profile specialists;
- payment for services related to the development and technical support of the Game;
- payment for hosting services and server capacity;
- coverage of logistics costs associated with the presentation of the Game in all 24 regions of Ukraine."
